Review – Dragonforce: Ultra Beatdown

So I recently found the new Dragonforce Cd. For all of you who aren’t familiar with Dragonforce, they are an ultra fast speed metal band. I guess you could say if Zeppelin played 1,000 times faster and were more obsessed with fantasy then that could get you closer to what Dragonforce is. From the limited listens that I have put into the Cd I can already tell you that it is still once again one of the fastest things that I have ever heard. If you were a fan of any of the other 3 Cd’s then you should be a fan of the new one. The Cd starts with the track “Heroes of Our Time”.

I also believe that that is one of the new downloadable tracks on Guitar Hero 3. The song is fast paced and shows off what Dragonforce has always shown off; speed, precision, and technicality. There is a bit more keytar on this album than I had heard in earlier releases. This doesn’t detract or really add anything but it does kinda make it reminiscant of a metal Journey if that makes any sense at all. Once again as per usual with Dragonforce every song feels like an epic with the shortest song clocking in at 5 minutes 20 seconds. The instrumentals are once again amazing and I find myself amazed that anyone can play that quickly and still be able to make out all the notes. Overall I love Dragonforce. They are one of the few speed metal bands I actually get into and enjoy and this Cd does not disappoint. I can’t give it a 5 because they didn’t bring too much new items to the table but a definite strong 4 out of 5. This is definitely one to pick up if you love speed metal, Dragonforce, or just love crazy fast music that makes you want to move around a lot.
